The Book

When people leave this world, do they really leave? Is there a way for those who have left us to still be active in our lives? But most importantly what is their purpose? Are they there to help us in our lives, to guide us, to correct us, or even to punish us?

I've always wondered about our journeys in life. If they really end when we "die" or if we continue on but just on a different level or in another realm. I never had any proof of this either way but just because someone is no longer alive that doesn't necessarily mean they are really dead and gone.

My great grandfather had been dead for years but he was seen slowly walking down the stairs and right out the front door. My great aunt was able to smell his old cologne as his spirit walked by her. Other family members also claim to have witnessed this and told me the same story at different times throughout my life.

When my mother was a young girl she woke up in the middle of the night and looked in her dresser mirror. A blurry figure appeared and seemed to be summoning her to go into the mirror. She jumped back into her bed and screamed for my grandmother. My grandmother calmed her down and told her that she had a nightmare. To this day my mother is not so sure it was a dream. All these years later, it is still very real to her.

In a way, I’ve always wanted to believe these stories because it seems to support an afterlife of some kind. As it turns out, there was only one way for me to be convinced...
